May 29, 2018 – Day Fourteen – Kreuztal

May 29, 2018 – Day Fourteen – Kreuztal

Bagels and herbed cream cheese, one fried egg, coffee – life is good!

Check the mail, write a post or two, laugh a lot – life is good!

Figure out that we can unlock the front door without going downstairs – life is really good!!

Time to commune with Mother Nature.  There is a little park about five minutes away, by car, with a lot of forest to roam in.  We’re on the hunt for wascally wabbits – er – no, we’re actually hoping for some bird photos.  There are several big piles of firewood all split and stacked for next winter.

Trader Joe's!

Beautiful stairwell and front door

Thee is a big blue and gray guy who keeps eluding us and a mother woodpecker whose nest we discover!  Marilyn thinks she might be able to get a shot inside the nest and is OMG successful!  Just hope the little guy isn’t so traumatized that the never comes out again!

so ar away!!

This may be the only shot I get of this beastie!

Perfect for overlooking the city.

Kreuztal

We sit on a bench above town and try to decide whether we can see our house from here.  Maybe not!

He sure surprised me!

Mama wouldn't come closer while we were near her babies.

Isn't he saying ,"OH!"?

Intrepid photographer reaching up HIGH for the shot!

Our little park
Back home we have the other halves of our sandwiches from yesterday, and a glass of wine.  Red goes with tuna fish, right?  We sit out on the balcony enjoying the breeze and our lunch, then come inside to return to the art of keeping up with the blog.

Still feeling a bit peckish, we pop up our favorite snack, and while the smooth-top burner is still hot, boil some eggs for tomorrow’s breakfast.  We’ll be leaving fairly early in the morning for Dusseldorf, hoping to do the tourist thing and still get home in time for dinner.  If we have lunch in town, we won’t need much more.

As the day winds down we have a couple of Kirstein’s ice-cream cones and settle in the the night.

(I have a tiny sample of Henning’s Lithuanian mead, thinking that would a good thing to bring home.  Boy am I wrong!!)

  1. Better to find out it isn't good in Germany than carrying it all the way back to Florida to find out.
Looks like you had fun taking photos of different kinds of birds than you find in your backyard at home.

    1. I thought so, too! It was so strong that you didn't get any flavor! The birds here sing continuously!! Or maybe I can just hear better with my new "ears"!
