May 28, 2018 – Day Thirteen – Kreutzal

May 28, 2018 – Day Thirteen – Kreutzal

It’s Monday, the day my phone savior is supposed to come!  Yay!!

It’s a laid-back day, getting up whenever we feel like it.  I have plenty of time to shower and stretch before Marilyn makes her appearance.  We’ve got the coffee routine down pat and eventually have yogurt with musli mixed in for breakfast, along with half of one of our new pastries.  We decide to have the one covered with strawberries and glaze.

Shall we go for a walk or to the butcher shop or catch up on our blogging and photo editing?  First things first.  Let’s decide what day trips we want to plan.  After research and taking suggestions (Thanks Daniella!), a day in Dusseldorf sounds like fun, and an overnighter to Koblenz, a UNESCO heritage site, is in order.  We choose a hotel and make reservations.

Lunch happens around two.  We make tuna-fish salad sandwiches with potato salad and some Thai chili chips we found at Aldi’s.

Mustafa, the phone savior comes around three.  He doesn’t want to come in and upstairs because he has on his work boots.  Eventually he comes to the top of the stairs.  He checks out the phone, notes that at least it powers up, and explains that I can have a new iPhone screen for about one hundred euros or a different one that is not as good for sixty.  I love my little phone and plan to keep it for as long as possible, so I go for the “original”.  Mustafa takes it with him and thinks he can have it by Friday or Monday.  He’ll let Henning know when it’s repaired and we can plan from there.  This way I won’t have to deal with it when I get home!  And if it isn’t on airplane mode for another week or more, the charges will be more than the extra cost of getting it fixed here.  The last time I got it fixed, a couple of years ago, it cost me ninety dollars, so I don’t think it’s outrageous!

When it cools off a little (The high today was in the eighties) we go exploring in the neighborhood.  Most of the houses are quite large and we find ourselves out in the country pretty quickly!  It’s a perfect walk and we come home feeling virtuous for getting out!

Where angels fear to tread!

It must be come kind of music camp or gathering place.

Something about Germany and barbed wire....

Our favorite house in the neighborhood

HOME!!

We could only eat half of our sandwiches and thought we’d have the rest for dinner.  But now we still aren’t that hungry!  Instead we watch some more episodes of “Lie to Me” and have mixed nuts and more popcorn for dinner!  By eleven we’re ready for bed.

  3. I love the new entries! We’re on a trip so I am just now catching up. I would love to see a photo of the sunroom laundry room. That sounds silly but I am so intrigued!! I’m a big fan of those European windows too I wish we had them here. And there is an Aldi’s Not far from you at home I think. They have the same coin and cart return and you can get many of the same foods here in the states that you are finding there! Especially seasonal treats. When you get home it may be worth a trip! Love the landscape photos!!
